On Sunday, June 9, 2024, Steven J. Maekawa, O.P., installed Rev. Yakubu Aiden as the new pastor of St. Nicholas Church in North Pole, Alaska. During the Mass, Rev. Aiden was greeted by representatives of the parish staff, Parish Council, and Parish Finance Council. As part of the installation, Rev. Aiden recited the oath of fidelity before Bishop Steven J. Maekawa, O.P., and the parish. A reception followed after the Mass. Rev. Aiden comes from the Diocese of Maiduguri. For the last six years, he has served Saint Marys, Pilot Station, and Mountain Village parishes in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region of the Diocese of Fairbanks.
