COME CELEBRATE FR. JOE HEMMER, OFM

Wednesday, August 9th, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 12:10 pm Mass followed by a reception. 

At 95 years old, Fr. Joe Hemmer has decided to return to his Franciscan community in the lower 48 after 35 years of faithful service to the people of the Diocese of Fairbanks. Father Joe has served most of the interior Athabaskan villages, most recently Kaltag and Ruby. He has been present for baptisms, marriages, funerals and countless family and village events and he will be greatly missed. Join us to celebrate the life and ministry of Fr. Joe and bid him farewell as he begins his new “mission” in retirement.

Following the Mass, a lunch reception will be held in the social hall of the Cathedral sponsored by the local secular Franciscans.
