Corpus Christi is a significant celebration in the Catholic Church that honors our profound belief in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. This annual feast provides a beautiful opportunity for us to reflect on the mystery of the Eucharist and deepen our faith in the body and blood of Christ.
One of the most recognizable aspects of the Feast of Corpus Christi is the solemn procession. These processions date back to the 13th century and involve the public display of the Blessed Sacrament. The procession moves through the streets, from one church to another allowing the faithful to express their devotion and bear witness to their faith in the real presence of Christ. During the procession, the Eucharist is placed in a monstrance and enshrined beneath a canopy. This symbolizes Christ's presence among His people and His reign over all creation. As the procession advances, the faithful offer prayers, sing hymns, and meditate on the significance of the Eucharist in their lives. The streets become a visible manifestation of faith, with believers joining together to honor and adore Christ.
Please save the date for a Corpus Christi Procession on June 11 from 2:30-4:30 pm, from Sacred Heart Cathedral to Immaculate Conception Church.
