Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska
On All Saints Day, I flew to the village of Chefornak for Confirmations at St. Catherine of Siena church. To get there, I had five sets of take offs and landings in one day: two on jets and three on a propeller plane. The evening of my arrival, I celebrated Mass for the community. On Saturday, I visited the old rectory and church on the other side of the village with Fr. Gregg Wood, S.J., and the parish administrator, Cecilia Kinegak. Sunday was the big day. Four students were Confirmed. The church was full. It was a day of the Holy Spirit. As we say in the Nicean Creed: “I believe in Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life”!
