June 1, 2016 Youth/Family Event: Blast to the Future! Where will you be in 25 years? On June 1st, join us for an evening of family fun. Festivities will begin at 6:30pm with some futuristic fun, foods and fellow-ship! Get creative and bring a dish to share! At 7:00pm, join the youth in burying the TIME CAPSULE! All parishioners, young and not so young, are encouraged to bring something in for our parish TIME CAP-SULE which will be opened in 25 years! Please drop off at our parish by the May 28/29 weekend Masses. Children are invited to include photos, letters, or a drawing perhaps representing our church, sacramental life, family or pictures from around our town. Remember to add your names to the photos to help us rec-ognize everyone 25 years from now. The FUN continues, as after the time capsule is buried, families are invited to join in our Futuristic Family Kick Ball Game! Bring your lawn chairs to cheer on the partici-pants!
Sign-Up for the Anniversary Luncheon, Thursday, June 2: There is still time to sign up for the free ca-tered 50th Anniversary luncheon at noon in the social hall. Add your name to the posted yellow sheet or contact Rosalie L'Ecuyer at>;.
June 3, 2016 50th Anniversary Mass & Potluck Reception: The cathedral's 50th Anniversary Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus will take place at 7 pm, Friday, June 3. A potluck dessert reception will follow, probably at about 8:15 pm, outdoors in the parking lot, weather permitting, (weather not permitting, in the social hall).
50th Anniversary Photos: We are still collecting photos of cathedral events over the last fifty years, with particular interest in events from 1966-1986 but later ones will also be welcomed. Please pass the photos to the cathedral office or to Patty Walter in the chancery's Alaskan Shepherd office. Patty will copy the photos and return the originals to their owners. Please identify the person(s), date, and event of each photo.
"Shutter Bug" Help: If you love to take photos and will be at any or all of the three cathedral 50th Anni-versary events, Wednesday-Friday, June 1-3, you will have plenty of photo opportunities. Afterwards, please share your best photos with the cathedral office for display on posters this summer and for archiving at the chancery for later use in the "Alaskan Shepherd" or at the cathedral's 75th anniversary in June 2041. Please include identification of person(s), event, date, etc. for each photo. Thank you.
