To: Diocese of Fairbanks
From: Bishop Chad Zielinski

In order to facilitate this, I am partnering priests to cover more parishes. Father Nelson Marilag will continue as the Parochial Vicar of Saint Raphael. Father Nelson will assist Father Kaspar with coverage of Saint Mark as Parochial Vicar.

In addition to serving the Parishes of Holy Cross, Aniak, Kalskag and Barrow, effective

22 December 2015

To: Diocese of Fairbanks
From: Bishop Chad Zielinski
Subject: Hispanic Apostolate

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On 27 April 2015, I sent out a letter formally establishing a Hispanic Apostolate, attached to Sacred Heart Cathedral with outreach to the entire diocese. At the time, I appointed two individuals to the Hispanic Apostolate:

1. Mrs. Lourdes Bernal to serve as Coordinator of the Hispanic Apostolate and as an ex-officio member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council.

2. Dr. Kelle Lynch-Baldwin as my Diocesan Facilitator of the Hispanic Apostolate.

Now that Fr. Ross Tozzi is assigned as the Rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral; he will now be the Facilitator of the Hispanic Apostolate and work directly with Mrs. Lourdes Bernal. I would like to thank Dr. Kelle Lynch-Baldwin for her time and dedication forming this new Apostolate until a full-time Rector was assigned.

Year of Mercy

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Pope Francis has established an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy which begins 8 Dec 2015 and concludes 20 November 2016.

In this Jubilee Year, may the Church echo the Word of God that resounds strong and clear as a message of pardon, strength, aid, and love. May she never tire of extending mercy, and be ever patient in offering compassion and comfort. May the Church become the voice of every man and woman, and repeat confidently without end: “Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old” (Ps 25:6).

As a companion to the encyclical Laudato Si, please find two links. The first is the USCCB page on the Environment and Environmental Justice. There you will find material that expands on themes found in the Holy Father's document.

Additionally is a link to the Catholic Climate Covenant, a USCCB group that is providing opportunities for communities and individuals to actively respond to the Holy Father's encyclical.
