House of Prayer
The House of Prayer, located next to Sacred Heart
Cathedral, has served in the past as a residence, an instruction center, a
retreat house, and a meeting place for various groups and classes in the
Fairbanks area. Currently, the House of Prayer (HOP) continues to serve many
purposes. These include:
- Daily Mass: 7:30 AM, Monday
through Saturday in the Chapel.
- Latin (Tridentine) Mass: 10:00 AM
every Sunday in the Chapel. This Mass is usually followed by either Benediction
or a potluck.
- The Kateri Tekakwitha Circle of
Fairbanks has a Native Mass the third Sunday of every month at 4:00 PM,
followed by a potluck.
- Sacred Heart Cathedral CCD classes
meet at HOP during the winter.
- Sacred Heart Cathedral RCIA classes
meet at HOP throughout the year.
- Meetings: Several groups hold
regular meetings at the HOP, including Knights of Columbus,
Voice in the Wilderness Charismatic Prayer Group, and the
Kateri Tekakwitha Circle of Fairbanks.
- Classes / Trainings: Occasional
classes may be held at the HOP, as space permits.
- Retreats: The facility is
available for solitary and group retreats upon approval.
- Guest Accommodation: The HOP also provides auxiliary housing for out of town visitors who are attending regional or diocesan meetings.
